Shady Lane is one of the few places in California that people don’t flock to; the small town barley has a hotel. Shady Lane is a part of the coastline, but unless you have residency in the town there is a large beach fee. The Shades, as outsiders called them, tried to escape the fame and fortune that California holds, but prefer the gratification of hard work, this keeps Shady Lane peaceful. People get along, they like each other. The little children in Shady are welcome to play in any and all of the backyards that Shady provides.
In Shady there has always been the simple, black and white, no shades of gray. Rarely a new family would move in and the town would inspect them, the shades would watch them and see how they acted if they could fit in with their community. These people had rather high expectations of others, if they refused to abide by the shades rules and lifestyles they would not make it in the town, many over the years would give into the saying “If you can’t beat them, join them.” That was how Shady was run.
Now what about a little disturbance? Not like the shades would allow that to happen… too bad the Government has forced it on them. Shady is becoming a place for the Government to hide people. There are mansions going up with those who are being hidden in Shady, and not many are accepting these new differences. Shady is being taken over, but the people can’t figure out why by the woods they are finding dead animals drained of their blood, and the stories of another town not to far away, people being found with the same fate.
